Cheers from my working studio! For the nano-second my hat making area is clean and tidy, I thought it would be a great time to offer
you a tour. There are stations for sewing, beading, ironing, research, paperwork, storage and display. I
have the company of a television and piped music to keep me company.
As soon as the photos were taken, the whole area reverted back into a haven of creating art: scatterings
of fabrics, floating feathers, threads and embellishments. Sure, at first glance to a visitor the studio may
appear random and overwhelming, but to me it is a fantasyland of possibilities, partially completed hats,
inspirational textures and half-hidden, long-forgotten treasures.
Currently I am working on a concept piece, “Piroska”, which is a free-form, taupe hat using man-made
straw as a base. I’ll be posting step-by-step photos when “Piroska” tells me enough is enough.
