The “Piroska” piece was inspired by my friend and Milliner, Piroska. I wanted to make her namesake hat using a technique she had shown me and I wanted the free-form shape to be versatile. I started with my trusty sewing machine and just let my hands and imagination lead the way. Between bouts of sewing, I would rest Piroska on my working Stacey-Styro head and each time the shape and aspect changed.
piroska_2The evolution of the “Piroska” hat from braid to a final shape was magical. At this stage I used a handmade, taupe, crystal-encrusted veil to accessorize the “Piroska”. See the central design? Well, I used that to my advantage…. And, I created a few headwear accessories. The magic never, ever ends.Today, if you are in Qualicum Beach, you may just find Deb out and about wearing her gorgeous new hat.
