Ordering Your Hat

Always On Top Hat Designs is proud to say that all of our hat designs by Lori Lynn Lachance are original and that our hats are handmade using the highest quality of materials.

Each of our hats deserves a life; a life with a woman who wears it and treasures its message. We expect our clients to be, and treat them as, individuals. Each woman has her own flair for fashion, their own definition of womanliness and her own way to express confidence. Factory-made hats simply not carry panache, a voice or creative energy.

For our designer, Lori, the process always begins with a client interview. First, you talk about the mechanics and business of ordering a custom hat: the size, how it will attach to your head, is this to be a statement piece and what are the time constraints? From there you discuss the colour palette: is it to match an ensemble? Is it to match your eyes? Is there an experience or memory you would like to evoke with colour? Next, you talk about the form and materials: antique silk veiling to add mystery? Feathers for movement or natural affect? Crystals for pizzazz? Custom flowers, fantasy flowers? Abstract design? Second, you will receive two sketches interpreting your needs. You and Lori can discuss any small changes. A final sketch will be sent to you for final approval. Now you will be asked to send a 50% deposit.

Next, your custom piece will be hand-made! Photographs of the final project will be sent to you for approval. And, your hat will be given or delivered to you by the agreed upon date, with our Certificate of Authenticity.

Packaging

Your hat is HANDMADE on Vancouver Island, Canada. The process of creating a one-of-a-kind piece by hand guarantees there will never be another hat like yours. We want your piece to arrive in excellent condition and will package it securely in an individual box to preserve its beauty during shipping. Always On Top will include your Certificate of Authenticity in the shipping box.

Caring for and Cleaning Your Hat

Avoid:

  • Direct Sunlight
  • Resting your hat on flat surfaces
  • Foundation make-up on forehead
  • Hairspray
  • Extreme temperatures

Store hat in a box at all times when you’re not wearing it, to keep dust and light off of the hat.  If your hat has a brim, store hat in box and flip box upside down to maintain shape.

Always handle hat at the brim, never the crown.

Shipping Information

All Always On Top Hat Designs orders are processed Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Orders placed on weekdays after 6PM PST, or on weekends, or holidays will be processed the next business day.

Always On Top headwear is made-to-order and a telephone interview is required before your order can be processed. Our studio is open Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM PST, excluding holidays.

Shipping times will vary due to availability of supplies and labor intensity. Products can take up to 6 weeks to ship; you can discuss the due date when you place your order. All Always On Top products are shipped from Vancouver Island, Canada. A tracking number will be sent to you. Always On Top Hat Designs is not responsible for any lost or stolen packages.

All orders are shipped via Canada Post, depending on location of customer. All orders shipped outside of Canada are subject to additional shipping charges based on the end country’s taxes, tariffs and duties. These fees are not associated with Always On Top and are to be paid by the recipient upon delivery.

For insurance purposes, the value of your shipment is non-negotiable and must directly reflect the cost of your hat. If you have questions about customs charges please contact your local customs office.

Exchanges

At Always On Top we want you to be happy. You can exchange any full price, ready-to-wear item (ie not Custom-made) – not purchased with a promotional discount – within five (5) days of receiving the item, provided that the item is in its original condition with hang tags still attached. All returns must be unworn and unused.

If you notice your custom-made hat is damaged upon delivery, please contact Always On Top Hat Designs immediately.

Shipping costs must be paid for by you for all exchange items unless the reason for the return/exchange is due to a product that is defective/damaged upon receipt. If this is the situation, you will pay for sending the hat back to us and Always On Top will reimburse you – if prior arrangements have been made with us.

We are unable to offer refunds or exchanges on Always On Top items that have been purchased through other websites or from other retailers.

To return or exchange an item, please follow these steps:

  1. Immediately contact us through email: Lori@AlwaysOnTopHatDesigns.
  2. State reason for return and the date you will be shipping the parcel to us. An authorizing mailing code will be given to you to write on the outside of the box.
  3. Please email the courier or postal tracking information to us, once received.
  4. For exchanges, please include information on which item you would like to exchange for and a refund of difference or request for balance invoice will be arranged via PayPal.
  5. We are not responsible for lost or stolen return/exchange packages. Please use a mail carrier with package insurance and tracking.
  6. We cannot refund duties and taxes.
  7. For more information on reclaiming international duties and taxes, please contact your local customs bureau.
